Best gaming deals for October 2023: ‘Elden Ring,’ Nintendo Switch bundle, and more
UPDATE: Oct. 17, 2023, 5:00 a.m. EDT This list has been updated with new deals and current pricing.
The best gaming deals of the week at a glance:
Gaming is a pricey hobby to keep up with. Not only are a staggering number of must-play titles released each year, but they’re also expensive. (Yes, games cost $70 now.) That’s why each week, we’re bringing you the best gaming deals we can find, so you can stay in the know about the hottest new games without stressing over video game-induced debt. Whether you’re looking to catch up on your backlog with discounted titles or are hoping to freshen up your setup with some new hardware, we’ve got you covered.
PlayStation deals
Why we like it
This dystopian first-person shooter has received some much-needed updates since its rough launch in the fall of 2021, and a free-to-play weekend from Oct. 12 to 16 resulted in its highest concurrent player count on Steam since release. If you enjoyed that trial (or missed out and want to play for cheap), GameStop just put the PS5 version on sale for only $10. That’s a whopping $60 off its MSRP and one cent away from its record-low price on Amazon, where it was sold out at the time of writing.

Xbox deals
Why we like it
FromSoftware’s fantastic fantasy action RPG from 2022 has nabbed more Game of the Year nods than any other title. If you somehow haven’t played it yet, there’s never been a better time to add it to your collection: GameStop has the Series X/S version on sale for just $24.99, or 58% off its $59.99 MSRP. That’s $10 better than its previous all-time low on Amazon (where it’s currently out of stock).

Nintendo Switch deals
Why we like it
Another steal at $299.99 (or the price of the standalone console), Nintendo’s go-to holiday bundle gets you a standard (non-OLED) Switch, a digital copy of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, and a three-month Nintendo Switch Online membership; you’d spend almost $370 if you bought each component separately. The bundle went live two months earlier than usual this year, and it’s still in stock at Amazon, Best Buy, GameStop, Target, Walmart, and in the My Nintendo Store. That will probably change as we get closer to December, FYI.

The first-generation Razer BlackShark V2 Pro is the comfiest gaming headset we’ve tested: With FlowKnit memory foam ear cushions and a padded headband, you can wear it for hours at a time without getting a headache. It comes equipped with immersive THX Spatial Audio, intuitive on-ear controls, and a crystal-clear mic, and it works with PlayStation and Nintendo Switch consoles in addition to PCs. Amazon has it on sale for $119.99, or 33% off — that’s $10 better than its current sale price at Best Buy (unless you have a paid My Best Buy membership).
